Glastonbury Hacks: A Beginners Guide

If you're heading to Worthy Farm this weekend, then you need to read our essential cheat sheet to the biggest party in Europe!

Camping:

Where to lay your tent is probably the most important decision you'll make at Glasto.

So if you don't want to end up in a quagmire, listen up.

DO NOT camp near the main stages unless you want to be kept awake all night. Right next to the action - these might seem like a tempting option - but in reality they're too noisy and often are some of the first to become swampland if it does rain (which let's face it - it will).

The number one rule is always aim for higher ground and head up towards The Park Stage.

If you have kids:

Glastonbury is very well suited to having little 'uns in tow. Head to the designated family areas Cockmill Meadow or if you nippers are really wee Wicket Ground.

In the day time The Kidz Field is open until 7pm every day and packed with plenty of things to entertain and amaze! There are also Cinemas, The Circus Field and The Cabaret Field to keep the whole family occupied name just a few...

Stay connected:

This year the lovely folk at EE are making sure you can stay in the loop with wifi hotspots dedicated to the most iconic landmarks at the long-running festival. Yep, you heard us correctly!

The alternative 4GEE 'hedge-liners', which sees shrubbery shaped as The Park Tower, The Arcadia Spider and the legendary Pyramid stage, will act as a double-speed 4G WiFi hotspots – meaning festival goers get to stay connected FOR FREE whilst partying away.

So now you can recharge, tweet, post and Instagram to your heart's content… making all those poor losers back home EXTRA jealous.

Explore!

Arriving at Glastonbury is like falling into another world.

Sure headliners Coldplay, Adele and Ellie Goulding will put on spectacular shows, but the real beauty of the festival is discovering bands you've never heard of and finding yourself in situations you never normally would.

Check out the Underground Piano Bar… if you can! This legendary spot is rumoured to be a favourite of festival found Michael Eavis… but you'll have to keep your ear to the ground to discover it as it's built in a different spot every year.

Fall down The Rabbit Hole… Make like Alice and take a visit to Wonderland. Solve riddles or just catch up on some much needed rest on the giant colourful cushions.

Experience some culture with the Hare Krishnas. Head down to the Spirit of 71 stage and learn how to chant like a pro. Plus why not try some new cuisine with their free dahl and rice curry.

Food

Glasto is a food lovers paradise. There is anything and EVERYTHING to chow down on, so make sure you try some new things.

From juicy burgers in The Dance Area, to homemade brownies in The Green Fields to sizzling to cheesy pizza at The Main Stage… it's time to tuck in!
