Tragic video emerges of Jason Lee partying just two weeks before he died at a music festival

Tragic video shows a young man partying just two weeks before he collapsed and died from a suspected drug overdose at an electronic music festival.

Jason Lee, 26, was at Knockout festival at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday evening when he phoned a friend at 11.44pm asking her to find him.

He was taken to Concord Hospital in a critical condition and died at about 1am, before his mother and sister arrived.

On Wednesday, Mr Lee's friend David Tran revealed on TikTok that they were partying together just two weeks ago.

Speaking with another friend in the video, he said: 'I was literally talking about how festivals get a bad rap because of kids OD-ing, and then one of the kids that OD'd is one of my mates.'

'I was out at Meritons two weeks ago with him.

'He died an hour after the rave, at 1am.'

He then played a clip of Mr Lee laughing and partying with friends in front of a table stacked with cups, drinks and a cake.

The friend said: 'Maybe Knockout does deserve to be, maybe, regulated a bit harder.

'You just showed me someone full of life ... to have that stripped away...there's a ripple effect to any death.

'His mother's going to feel it, his whole family. That's f***ed up.'

Mr Tran said he was trying to raise awareness for the fundraiser Mr Lee's family set up.

In the fundraiser, Mr Lee's friend Julia An revealed he had called her and asked her to find him at about 11.44pm that evening.

'His last breaths were used on telling me he will send his location and to come find him,' she said.

She then described him as the 'most loyal friend, son [and] brother', adding that he was the 'type of guy who would take the shirt off his back' for anyone.

He had been supporting his single mum who has health conditions.

'Everybody who had the fortune of being his friend knows he was the most stand up guy,' she said.

'He was always looking out for other people and being considerate of them, lending an ear, putting others before him.'

Mr Lee had only recently celebrated his 26th birthday. Now his family are planning a funeral.

She called on the community and everyone touched by Mr Lee's 'one-of-a-kind presence' to help his family with the financial costs of laying him to rest.

'Jason has touched upon so many people's lives, and everybody who was his friend I'm sure can agree,' she said.

'It's not specifically being treated as a suspected drug overdose,' Det Supt Simon Glasser told reporters on Sunday.

'We look at all avenues. Anything could have happened.'

Despite this, Superintendent Glasser issued a warning about the dangers of taking illicit substances at the festivals.

'This shows that people can die at music festivals,' he said.

'Drugs can have some horrible consequences. When you mix that with the heat of yesterday, it's an added risk factor that can cause adverse affects.'

Police on Tuesday revealed a 23-year-old man, identified as Trong Ha Nguyen, was charged with alleged drug offences.

Nguyen, from Victoria, was arrested at Sydney Airport around 4.20pm on Monday and searched by police who allegedly found $13,535 in cash.

He was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime value of the property less than $100,000, and supply a prohibited drug.

He was granted bail and will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on November 30.
