Prince William And Prince Harry's Childhood Memories
As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge prepare for the arrival of baby number two, we still don't know if young George will be being joined by a little brother or sister. Ahead of the royal delivery, we take a look back at Princes William and Harry's child and teen years together and their strong brotherly bond.
1. Princes William and Harry are 80s babies!
Prince William was born to Frances Mountbatten-Windsor and Charles Philip Arthur George on 21 June 1982. Two year's later on 15 September 1984, the Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed another baby boy to their growing brood. This portrait of Princess Diana with her two sons was taken in 1984, shortly after baby Harry's birth.
2. His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis.
Prince William was given his full name when he was baptised on 28 June 1984 and put under the extended protection of six godparents. It is quite common for young children to want to be police officers when they grow up, and a seven-year-old Prince William was no different. This is a picture of the young Prince's dressed as a policeman whilst riding a motor bike in 1987. According to 'People' magazine the child claimed he wanted to follow this profession so that he could protect his mother.
3. His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales.
Few people are aware that Prince Harry's real name is actually Henry as that is what he was christened! Harry is a popular nickname for children named Henry. This photo shows an excitable three-year-old Harry as he arrives for his kindergarten Nativity play dressed in an elf-like costume.
4. Changing styles: Prince Harry
Both Princes Wills and Harry were lucky enough to enjoy a wide range of experiences from a young age. This photo shows a young Prince Harry suited and booted in army gear and riding a light tank in Germany.
5. Prince William's nicknames ranged from 'Wills' to the less common 'Wombat'!
A young Prince William looks as chuffed as any young lad would be, as he's treated to a go-karting session at none other than the British Grand Prix in July 1988.
6. Prince Harry even got to meet our very own Emma Bunton!
A very bashful looking young Harry holds hands with the gorgeous Victoria Beckham, aka. Posh Spice and our own Baby Spice, as he watches the Spice Girls do their thing at a concert in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1997.
7. Prince Harry proves he has bags of style from his early teen years.
A very smartly dressed 13-year-old Harry poses for a photo whilst taking a walk along the River Dee in Wales. The flame-haired Prince attended the rather fancy private school Eton along with his brother.
8. Prince William: The teen heartthrob!
There's no doubt about it - as second-in-line-to-the-throne… and undeniably gorgeous, Prince William was the number one crush of many a young school girl in the 90s. The classically handsome young man's poster was even reported to have been hanging on a young Kate Middleton's bedroom wall before the couple actually met… despite Kate since denying the rumours!
9. Prince Harry: The sports aficionado!
Harry may not have excelled at academics… but his prowess on the sports pitch was undeniable. This photo was taken of the fourth-in-line to the throne, playing football, aged 18. The ginger-haired boy's real passion always lay however, with the sports of both rugby and polo.
10. Both young Princes adored polo growing up and still do to this day.
The brothers have proved themselves time and time again on the field. This picture shows Prince William collecting the trophy after his team Mercedes AMG won the Calcot Manor Hotel Cup in Gloucestershire. Tim Keyte, executive polo manager of the Bathurst family revealed to the 'Telegraph Sport' that he believed that both boys could have represented England at the sport.
11. Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy: A young love affair.
Harry and his then girlfriend Chelsy Davy kept the tabloids guessing for years. The pair were carful to remain private about the status of their relationship, although were allegedly together for around five years. The South-African bombshell attended the Prince's graduation. Here the young lovebirds attend the Cartier International Polo Day at Guards Polo Club, Windsor.
12. Prince William and Catherine Middleton: A love story with a happy ending.
Kate and Wills first met at St. Andrews University where they were both studying as students. The pair were initially flatmates and began dating in 2003, causing the papers to begin speculating on the depth of their relationship. The brunette attended William's passing-out parade at Sandhurst as her first royal engagement and despite the couple temporarily splitting in 2007, they soon reunited and are now happily married and expecting their second child.
