Khamzat Chimaev Joins Joe Rogan in Rallying for Artur Beterbievs Super FightAfter Extra
The WBO, WBC, and IBF lineal light heavyweight world champion, Artur Beterbiev, has successfully managed to defend his titles against challenger, Callum Smith. The 38-year-old’s performance against the Englishman was impressive enough to gain a lot of attention, even from some UFC personalities such as Joe Rogan and Khamzat Chimaev.
The undefeated Canadian-Russian managed to retain his 100% knockout rate, along with his titles, in his fight against Smith. This performance against the 33-year-old was the tipping point for fans to want to see Beterbiev compete in bigger fights. And the UFC commentator felt no different.
Joe Rogan and Khamzat Chimaev praise Artur Beterbiev’s performance
Artur Beterbiev’s performance against the former British and European super middleweight champion left fans stunned since he had never been finished before in his career. His only loss coming into the fight was against the former PFP no.1 boxer, Canelo Álvarez, which also went the distance.
So a finish over a boxer like Callum Smith puts Artur Beterbiev in a league of his own. UFC superstar, Khamzat Chimaev chipped in to acknowledge the greatness of the performance – he posted a story on his Instagram account, tagging the boxer with a gold medal emoji.
Rogan also posted a picture of Beterbiev, with a long caption implying that the lineal champion deserves super-fights now. The 56-year-old wrote, “This man drags people to hell like no other. (Artur Beterbiev) goes 20-0 with 20 knockouts and becomes the first guy to floor (Callum Smith). I hope he gets the super fights he deserves before he retires, and I hope people appreciate how extraordinarily terrifying his style and skills are.”
The UFC commentator certainly has a point here, making an argument that the 38-year-old boxer deserves super fights, especially with him going up in age. And it seems like the boxer is on the same page as Rogan.
Artur Beterbiev eyeing a super fight after emphatic win
Artur Beterbiev looks absolutely unbeatable inside the square ring, and rightfully so with a 100% finish rate. His barrage of punches against Smith in the 7th round echoed throughout the arena to make a statement of him being the best in the division. He was also leading on the scorecards 58-56, 58-56, and 59-55 ahead of the stoppage. However, he has yet to become the undisputed champion despite his dominant run.
